It's been an interesting, and busy, week.
I discovered that exercise really is good for you!
"Really?" I hear you ask, with a raised eyebrow and a look of disbelief on your face.
Yes really. Let me explain. I was working away at Chapter 6 and it had gone well but - there's always a 'but' when you are writing - I needed to resolve the chapter and although I had plenty of ideas none of them were all that interesting.
So, I put my pen down and headed for my spinning class. I can't say I enjoy spinning, the best bit is finishing, but I'm sure it must be good for..
"Put all your thoughts away and concentrate on the class," yelled the instructor, over some modern crooners that seemed to repeat one sentence by yelling it at the tops of their voices interminably over a loud, but distinctive, beat (as a reasonably accomplished lyricist I find the lyrical nonsense in modern 'pop' songs rather abhorrent, however, that's not what this blog is about!).
I'll be quite honest, if I concentrated on peddling for 45 minutes I'd never make it through the class, so instead I imagined that I was cycling through the Enchanted Forest with my cast and, lo and behold, a resolution came to me in a flash.
"Are you alright, Peter?" my instructor called over the thumping beat.
I realised that I'd just sat up, put my hands on my chest and let out a yell and she thought I was having a heart attack! She thought my yell of joy at my revelation was a cry of pain - just goes to show how this modern music distorts reason!
Anyway, job done, I got home and finished chapter 6 satisfactorily and proved that exercise really is good for you. Mind you, I've no idea what it does for my body, but my brain certainly benefits!!
